• Hello, Eagles

Given the Coronavirus situation we have going on, I received news from our school that it will be closed through April 10th and that we are to start using the Google Classroom more extensively than before. As to that, we will start meeting in Google Hangouts via Google Classroom. I am not sure how to schedule the meetings but check for the links when the times of the meetings are close at hand. I will set them up before then.  This is all a big learning curve for us.

For now, we will “meet and greet” to see who’s who that can be here in these Google Hangouts meetings and can access the Google Classroom at home. Our first sessions (about 20 minutes each) are listed as below:

    WEDNSDAY: March 18th, 2020

    1st period: 8:00-8;20

    3rd period: 10:00-10:20

    5th Period: 12:00-12:20

    7th period: 2:00-2:20

    THURSDAY: March 19th, 2020

    2nd period: 10:00-10:20

    6th period: 2:00-2:20

    Important notes to know:

You can also check my teacher website with the similar updated information.  I am not sure if you can access Google calendar on your Google Classroom (again all new here) page.  I will use the Google Calendar to schedule meetings for all our classes. Once these links are made, they should pop up on your Google Calendar page or on your Google Classroom page.

We ae waiting on the word on how the grading will be handled. Its all new for us because of the unique situation here that we are having.

If there are any questions, you can email me at jholmbe@myhumbleisd.net.  I will try my best to answer these since I used to get high volume of emails. You can also leave notes in the Google Classroom. Perhaps on a discussion board that I will create soon.

New note: It turns out that you can get to your Google Calendar via your Google Classroom page by clicking on the Classwork at the top of the page then click on Google Calendar.  There you should see your period and the Google Hangouts link. Click on that and you will be in the Google Hangouts with me at your assigned time.  Check your Google Classroom/emails!

    Be polite and respectful

Do not bother other students during the classes. Offer help if they would like some.

Do the homework when asked and turn those in typed. (spell check is one of your best friends when using the Microsoft Word or some other program).

Be respectful of all the cultural norms being demostrated in the classes...especially the deaf culture.

In Deaf Culture, we do not use "sir", "ma'am", "Mrs", "Mr", and/or "Ms".  We use namesigns.
