WMS Chess Club

Let me personally thank you for your interest in Chess Club.  I am Mrs. Phillips, and I am the Chess Club leader/organizer.  I have taught chess within the classroom for 3 years and am currently the Club Leader.

My primary goal within the club is to develop the students to think critically and strengthen their confidence while playing Chess.  Chess has been proven to increase IQ scores while developing the brain inteleculatily. My secondary goal is to have a team compete within UIL Competition.

Please look around the website and play a few games of chess.  If you do not know how to play no worries, register and come, we will teach you !  We have both AM and PM Clubs, to help support athletic students in 7th and 8th grade.

The only requirement to attend club is to complete a registration form.
