    Humble ISD invites community to pep rally, concert, food trucks, virtual reality exhibits, and more from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25

    Humble ISD is turning 100 and invites the community to the district’s Centennial Year Celebration Kick-Off. The event will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. this Saturday, August 25, at the Humble Civic Center Expo and Arena, 8233 Will Clayton Parkway. Robbins Automall is the event sponsor.

    This night of free family fun includes a pep rally with performances from all Humble ISD high schools, live music, food trucks, and museum-quality interactive exhibits by Harris County Public Health. Admission and parking are free. Free bottled water and misting stations will be available. If the Civic Center parking lot becomes filled, vehicles may park at Humble High School, 1700 Wilson Road, where school bus shuttles will be available to take you to and from the Civic Center Expo and Arena.

    Activities for the evening include:

    • 6 to 7 p.m. – Parents can take photos of their children with Humble ISD football players, cheerleaders, and dance team members against the Humble ISD photo backdrop.
    • 6 to 10 p.m. – Food truck vendors El Guajillo, Mundy’s BBQ, Wokker and Kona Ice will be selling food and drinks.
    • 6 to 10 p.m.  – Harris County Public Health is bringing state-of-the-art mobile units with games, entertainment, health information and services for children and adults.
    • 7 p.m. – All six high schools will participate in a historic pep rally. Opportunity to catch a Centennial T-shirt!
    • 8 to 10 p.m. – Hometown band 59 North plays ‘70s-‘90s country and classic rock.

    “Humble ISD has been a huge part of molding our lives and we look forward to the event,” said Jay Warren, 59 North lead vocalist and a member of Humble High School’s Class of 1996.

    Students, staff and parents from each high school and their feeder pattern elementary and middle schools are encouraged to wear the high school’s color: Atascocita High School – red; Humble High School - purple; Kingwood High School - blue; Kingwood Park High School - green; Quest Early College High School – green; and Summer Creek High School - maroon.

    Additional events designed to celebrate the past and inspire the future will be held throughout the 2018-2019 school year for the Centennial Year Celebration.
