T. "Donavan" Kanak, Lieutenant Colonel, USAF (retired)
I am entering my third year at KPARK and excited about our continued growth! We expect to gain a new instructor this year as we unfortunately had to bid farewell to Master Sergeant Newberry. Sergeant Newberry has transferred to a school in Boerne, TX. If you need to contact him, please let me know.
We continue to add more STEM curriculum to Junior ROTC. The Air Force has funded a flight simulator for our classroom! This will supplement our aviation courses with some hands-on experience.
Last year we added a Junior/Senior-level course, Aviation Ground School (AGS). This course will be offered every other year and the prerequisite (Intro to Flight) will be taught on the off years. In AGS, we cover topics needed to pass the FAA knowledge test and begin Flying lessons to earn their private pilot's license. Yes, we now teach our cadets to fly... and we will have a simulator for them to practice!
