"SNHS is a prominent scientific organization that will engender a new group of young thinkers who will be the future of industry, research, and scientific exploration for America."
America has been honoring brilliant students through honor societies since 1921. Educators began to notice the need for subject specific honor societies in America’s high schools in the 1980's. Since then, new honor societies have sprung up to recognize and encourage students in such areas as English, Art, French, and Spanish. Until now, there has been no national honor society for Science. In this era of rapidly changing technologies and scientific advancement, it is time to encourage and recognize high school students in the Sciences.
This chapter seeks those interested in science as well as students who have completed at least three semesters of high school with at least one semester at Quest, achieving a cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Additionally, they must have taken two science honor classes at Quest Early College. The application process consists of an application form and two required teacher evaluations. Completed applications should be submitted to Mrs. Booth.
Students may begin applying the second semster of sophmore year to ensure they are a member the start of their junior year.
What we do:
In this chapter we scout guest speakers who are within STEM fields to provide insight into potential careers that might interest students. We arrange science based activites that allow pupils to see ways in which science is incorporated. Futhermore, SNHS aims to asslimate students passions for STEM through volunteer oopportunites that allow them to give back to their community while fueling their passion.
SNHS meets the last Monday of every month in Booths room or the LGI.
