Dr. Kenneth Hodgkinson
Dr. Ken Hodgkinson was appointed as the school’s principal. Dr. Hodgkinson brings experience opening a new school, as he served as the inaugural principal for Porter High School. In 2016, he was named Region VI Principal of the Year as well as a State Finalist for Principal of the Year. Dr. Hodgkinson began his education career in a middle school. He started as a math teacher and culminated his six years in middle school serving as the campus principal. Dr. Hodgkinson has 21 years of experience in school administration with New Caney and Aldine ISDs. He earned his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees at the University of Houston, and studied computer programming at Western Iowa Tech.

Mrs. McDonald and her family relocated from Cy Fair ISD 10 years ago to serve Humble ISD and this outstanding community. Mrs. McDonald is married and has two children, BreAnna and Dominic. Mrs. McDonald is excited to open West Lake Middle School and serve students that will have incredible opportunities at this amazing school.
Daniel M. Pfannstiel
7th Grade Assistant Principal
Daniel M. Pfannstiel is excited to be opening West Lake Middle School as Assistant Principal for 7th Grade, coming to WLMS after serving 3 years as Assistant Principal at Summer Creek High School. Prior to being an administrator, Mr. Pfannstiel taught band and science at the middle school and high school levels in Conroe and Spring ISDs. Mr. Pfannstiel is also a doctoral candidate in public school administration at Texas A&M University in his hometown of College Station after completing a Bachelor's Degree and two Master's Degrees in Music and Education from Sam Houston State University. Mr. Pfannstiel has a passion for children and the future of our community, motivating him to advocate for authentic learning/21st Century skills (critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and creative problem solving) and character education (PBIS, restorative practices, and social justice). Mr. Pfannstiel is married to an educator, Jennifer, and is proud father of two, David Austin and Calvin. Mr. Pfannstiel is a former trumpet player for the Houston Texans and bass guitar player in local bands, and he currently enjoys using his children as an excuse to play outside and build with Legos and rooting for his Astros and Aggies. 8th Grade Assistant Principal
Tanya Close’s thirty-four years in education have included teaching in 3 different states and in Germany. She has taught elementary and middle school, been an instructional coach and a testing coordinator, and has spent the last 8 years as an Assistant Principal at Woodcreek. While at Pine Forest Elementary she was chosen to be Teacher of the Year, was a District Finalist for Teacher of the Year, and was awarded Elementary Science Teacher of the Year by the Texas Medical Association. She believes that opening a new school is a unique opportunity and she looks forward to helping establish a positive, safe climate at West Lake. She is a proud self-proclaimed Science geek, an avid reader, and an animal lover. She has 2 adorable granddaughters and a spoiled rescue dog named Sam.
