According to the FEMA Fact Sheet, if you were affected by Hurricane Harvey and the subsequent floods and live in a disaster-designated county, you may register for FEMA assistance even if you are covered by insurance.
If you are in a declared disaster area and are the victim of a disaster, you may be eligible for a low-interest rate disaster loan from the U.S. Small Business Administration - even if you don't own a business. As a homeowner, renter and/or personal-property owner, you may apply to the SBA for a loan to help you recover from a disaster.
You can register with FEMA online or at a local DRC (Disaster Recovery Center). In Humble, there is a DRC at the Humble Senior Center, located at 1401 S. Houston Avenue. You do not need an appointment and the hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday; and Noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Deadlines to register with FEMA for Hurricane Harvey Assistance have been extended by counties. Harris County has been extended to November 22, 2017.
