• Speech

Hello!  My name is Lucy Salinas, and I am a Speech-Language Pathologist housed at Lakeland Elementary. I am bilingual in Spanish and English and am familiar with American Sign Language.

I obtained my bachelors degree from the University of Texas Pan American which is now UTRGV and my masters degree from Texas Woman's University. Before becoming an SLP, I was an SLPA for three years before becoming an SLP graduate student. As a school SLP since 2008, I have experience with students ranging in age from preschool to high school.  I also serve as a member of the district Child Study Team for English Learners and the Elementary SLP Leadership Team.

Outside of work, I love reading, shopping, a good cup of hot chocolate, and a date to the movie theater. I also enjoy spending time with my three princess beasts and my fur baby Jedi.

Carla Bloomer is also housed at Lakeland. She is also bilingual and provides speech therapy services to the majority of our students. Carla obtained her bachelors degree in Communication Disorders from the University of Houston. Go Coogs!! She has been an SLPA since 2007. She is amazing. Outside of work she enjoys going to the movies, going out to eat, and being active. She has two children. One is on her way to becoming a registered nurse and the other is a junior who enjoys playing golf.

Our goal is to share therapy ideas and materials with our parents and students at Lakeland.

Our motto is to make life easier and a bit more beautiful for the busy school SLP while providing amazing learning opportunities for our students!
