The following was printed in the Houston Post on Tuesday, December 4, 1917 (page 4 and 5)1
"Teachers of the schools at Humble gave a reception Monday evening for the patrons and friends of the schools in celebration of the completion of the new high school buidling. County Superintendent J. W. Lyle attended the affair on the invitation of the teachers. The new building relieves congested conditions in the ward schools. One building has been housing 1200 pupils. J. F. Crawford is superintendent of the district and Miss Frances Hyde is principal of the high school."
