• Who is Mrs. Porter-Roy?District Teacher of the Year-Elementary

Welcome to a great year at Willow Creek Elementary! This is my 14th year in education and my 7th year at Willow Creek Elementary.

I am not a Texas native. I've lived all over the country because my dad was in the military (Air Force) for 20 years! I was born in New Mexico and spent 3 years there, then moved to a different country, Holland. I spent kindergarten, first grade, and second grade on a military base. Then we moved to Destin, Florida. I lived there for the second part of my second grade year through my sophomore year in high school. After Florida, we moved to Ohio. I spent my last 2 years of high school and 4 glorious years of college in Ohio.  Upon graduation from Bowling Green State University, (go Falcons!) I moved to the great state of Texas to start my career and I never looked back!

In December 2016, I married my husband, David. He was born and raised in Kingwood, Texas! A proud alumni of  Bear Branch Elementary, Creekwood Middle School, and Kingwood High School. We live in New Caney, Texas with our 2 crazy dogs, Keystone and Cinnamon. We have no children together yet, but I do have a wonderful stepson, Tanner, who is a freshman this year at Kingwood High School. We share our time with lots of family and love spoiling our nieces and nephews. When the dogs aren't driving us crazy we love to swim, hunt, work on house projects, and travel! We are huge sports fans too. We love to watch football and baseball (GO OHIO STATE BUCKS and ASTROS!!!!)

Teaching isn't just a job for me, it's a passion! I believe in academics, but I also believe in social and emotional intelligences. I love the WHOLE child. Their interests, extra-curricular activities, and heart mean as much to me as their reading level and math capabilities. I look forward to spending the year with you and your child! If there is ever a problem, please communicate, so we can solve it the best way we can.
