    DJ Wilson is entering his fourth season as the head baseball coach at Summer Creek for the 2019 season.  The Bulldogs had a historic record breaking 2018 season under Wilson’s leadership as the Bulldogs set a school record for the most 6A wins in a single season (18), longest school winning streak (13), was THSB state ranked for the first time in school history and made their second straight appearance in the 6A UIL Playoffs while winning the school's first ever 6A playoff game.   

    In Wilson’s three seasons at SCHS, 25 players have received All District honors, 4 players have received All-Greater Houston honors and 2 players have been named to the Academic All State Team. Wilson has coached collegiate and high school baseball for 23 years.  He is the 4th head coach of Summer Creek’s baseball program which began varsity play in 2011. The Bulldogs have participated in UIL 6A since 2015; prior to that the school competed in UIL 4A.

    In 2018, the Bulldogs set a 6A school record with 18 wins, surpassing the previous mark of 15 set in the 2017 season.  The 2018 team also set a school record winning streak by winning 13 consecutive games, the 2nd longest streak in the state by any team in 2018 and was twice ranked in the Top 25 by the Texas High School Baseball (THSB) Magazine State Rankings (19th 3/19 and 22nd 3/36).  The Bulldogs were named the THSB State Team of the Week (3/19) and the Texas Prep Baseball H6AB Team of the Week (Week 3) while staying in the Texas Prep Baseball H6AB Top 25 for 5 consecutive weeks.  Summer Creek won it's first ever UIL 6A playoff game in the 2018 post season beating defending State Champion Deer Park at Summer Creek, 3-1.  In 2017, Summer Creek made their first appearance in the 6A UIL Playoffs and hosted their first ever playoff game on the SCHS baseball field. 

    Prior to Summer Creek High School, Wilson coached for 18 years at the collegiate level at San Jacinto College here in Houston.  While a coach at San Jac, Wilson helped the Gators earn 12 trips to the Junior College World Series, 6 appearances in the National Championship game, 11 Conference Championships, and a #1 National Ranking 6 times.  Wilson has also served as a Houston-area Associate Scout with the Boston Red Sox.

    Wilson has coached 15 players that have played in the MLB big leagues, including 4 players currently playing in the 2017 season: Brandon Belt (SF Giants), Daniel Stumpf (Detroit Tigers), Anthony Banda (Arizona Diamondbacks) and Matt Albers (Washington Nationals).  Over 60 former players have been drafted and signed professional contracts with minor league baseball teams and over 125 former players have signed with D1 NCAA teams. Fourteen former players earned All American honors and seven former players earned Academic All American honors. 

    Coach Wilson has a Master of Education in Health & Kinesiology degree from The University of Texas at Tyler and a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from The University of Houston.  Wilson is married with 3 daughters.
