My name is Megan Ortolano and I am thrilled to be your child's teacher this year. The children and I will spend a great deal of time getting to know each other during the first few weeks of school. Building a solid relationship with your child is important to me.

I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself. I grew up in Bastrop, LA, and graduated from Bastrop High School. I received my bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from The University of Louisiana at Monroe. This will be my eighth year teaching Kindergarten. I've spent the last seven years at Eagle Springs. And, I'm thrilled to be joining the Centennial family this year! 

My husband Damian and I have been married for fifteen years. We have three children - Sean, Sydnee, and Chloe. Our oldest, Sean, is a sophomore at Kingwood High School. Sydnee is in 8th grade at Riverwood Middle School. Our youngest, Chloe, is off to middle school this year. She is in 6th grade at Creekwood Middle School. This is the first time in my teaching career that I won't have one of my children at school with me. It's true what they say, "Babies don't keep!"  

When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family and our two dogs -  Elvis and Owen. Elvis is a 16-year-old, cranky, spoiled rotten, apple head chihuahua (think the taco bell dog except really old). Owen is a 3-year-old, very large (105 lbs.), and lovable German Shepherd. Our family LOVES football - Especially our LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints! We are also really LOVE Astros baseball. Geaux Tigers, Saints, and 'Stros! We also really love traveling and are working towards visiting all 50 states.

I am a firm believer in the partnership between home and school.  A child is a precious gift. And no one knows or loves your child the way that you do. It is crucial that we communicate and work together for the benefit of your child.  Please feel free to ask questions and let me know if you have a concern.  I will do the same. It will be exciting to watch the children learn and grow as we work together!
