Just a little bit about myself
I graduated from Ohio University with a degree in forensic chemistry as well as a degree in Spanish. After graduation, I moved down to Texas and joined the Houston Police Department. I worked as a patrol officer for 4 years before I decided to leave the field and start teaching. I started teaching at AHS in 2006 when the school opened. I have taught biology, chemistry, law enforcement and I started the forensic science program for the district. I transferred to Kingwood High School in 2016 and was so excited to start teaching some Mustangs!!! I have two children: James is 15 and is going to be a sophomore at KHS this year while Logan is 12 and will be in the 7th grade at RMS. I enjoy playing with the children, swimming and boating, running, cake decorating and reading.
My Teaching Philosophy
I believe a teacher is someone who doesn't always stand at the front of the room and lecture. I enjoy using different techniques in the classroom to deliver the content. It is important for students to realize that even if I am not directly giving information, they are still learning. I will come to school every day prepared for the lesson, I will use varying strategies to engage the students in the classroom and I will teach students how to find information/answer questions on their own. Students will keep up-to-date on their work, they will come prepared to class, they will give themselves time to study and they will take pride in their work.
