•  Kingwood Middle School

    Construction

The architectural firm of Nix, Spencer, Herolz, Durham, Inc. performed a preliminary study of a new middle school in Kingwood in March 1975.

A site for the school of 18.74 acres, for $118,092.44, was approved in October 1975. John West Contractor was awarded the contract to clear the site for $9,000.  Every effort was made to preserve trees at the site.

In January 1976 fill dirt was transported to the middle school site.  The dirt was donated by Friendswood Development company.

Beard & Martin Contractors were awarded the bid for the drives and parking areas in June 1976 for $18,557.

By February 1977 the school was 77% complete.

Stage equipment was purchased from Houston Scenic for $3,072.

Brick was chosen that was slightly darker than the brick used for Woodland Hills Elementary School.

The name Kingwood Middle School was chosen for the new building at the April 1977 School Board meeting.
