KHS Theatre Student Ranked #1 in the Nation
Congratulations to Anna Kate Reynolds from Kingwood High School, she was ranked #1 in the nation for stage management at the National Thespian Festival in Lincoln, Nebraska.

AMS Honors Band receives first place in Region Competition
Congratulations to the 2016-2017 Atascocita Middle School Honors Band! The Band received first place in their division at the Region Honor Band competition on June 8, which advances them to the Area Honor Band hearing competition on June 22.

Congratulations to David Kniess on receiving the Sterling Shining Star Award
Mr. Kniess is one of two educators awarded with the Sterling Shining Star of the Year award. Mr. Kniess and Dr. Landry received $5,000 each for making a difference in the lives of students.

LSE fifth graders use class project to build 3-D prosthetic hand for first grader
Lakeshore Elementary fifth graders led a group project to create a 3-D prosthetic hand for Lakeshore first grader, Joshua Shanks.

WMS Kickstart Kids earn purple belts at end of year ceremony
The Kickstart students held their spring purple belt ceremony on May 24. The belt ceremony included a student performance, demo team performance and a very special congratulation from Kickstart Kids founders Chuck and Gena Norris.

Free, healthy breakfast and lunch meals are offered during the summer for children ages 1 through 18.

GTE students travel to Austin for a Texas history lesson
Greentree Elementary fourth grade students traveled to Austin for an Education in Action Discover Texas field trip. Students had the opportunity to visit the Texas State Capitol and the Bullock Texas State History Museum.

Humble ISD's 2016-2017 Teachers of the Year were honored at a luncheon held at Raffa’s Waterfront Grill on May 18, 2017.

KPHS administrators visit students home for a special graduation
Channel 11 aired a story about Kingwood Park High School administrators going to a home to present a diploma to KPHS senior Clinton Vest in front of his grandmother, who was suffering from extraskeletal osteosarcoma cancer in the gallbladder. The one thing she wanted to accomplish before she passed was to see Clinton graduate on May 27.

HHS JROTC recognized at North Houston Police Memorial Ceremony
U.S. Congressman Ted Poe presented HHS Army JROTC with a flag that was flown over the Capitol on September 11, 2016 and a certificate of recognition for their service. The HHS JROTC has participated in the North Houston Police Memorial Ceremony for the last three years.

Four Kingwood Elementary Schools will compete during the annual 'Get in the Game' kickball tournament fundraiser
It’s time for this year’s annual “Get in the Game” festivities! The four elementary schools, Bear Branch Elementary, Elm Grove Elementary, Foster Elementary, and Woodland Hills Elementary that feed into Kingwood Middle School and Kingwood Park High School will compete in this year’s community kickball tournament.

Author James Ponti visits TMS
Children’s author, James Ponti, spent the day with Timberwood Middle School students talking about his book “FRAMED!” The campus is currently reading the book as part of their One Campus, One Book Campaign.

Humble ISD receives $48,062.66 through CenterPoint Energy partnership
The goal of the CenterPoint Energy Commercial Load Management Program is to conserve energy and help control summer peak demand. CenterPoint Energy presented a check to Humble ISD at the December Board of Trustees Meeting.

Karate Kids of Humble ISD
In fall of 2016 Woodcreek Middle School became the pilot campus for Kickstart Kids in Humble Independent School District. The program is offered to students as a physical education credit and elective. Recently the students received their gold belts at the Woodcreek Middle Winter Belt Ceremony.

Students and parents filled the Kingwood High School gym Friday, Dec. 2 for the 5th annual Kingwood High School vs. Kingwood Park High School Best Buddies Basketball Game.

On, Friday Dec. 9, ABC13 will air a Special Season of Sharing story from 9-10 a.m. that will highlight Backpack Buddies at North Belt Elementary, their service projects and how the program has helped families.

Thanks to the initiative of PE Teacher Tracey Wong, a tip-off from her son, WCE 4th grader Tristen Wong, and a bunch of engineering students at University of Houston, Lakeland 3rd grader Rafael Esquivel III, for the first time in his life, has a prosthetic hand.

Humble High School Host Wildcat Salute to Veterans
For 13 years, the Humble High School Veterans Day Salute has commemorated military veterans for their service and sacrifice. On display is a replication of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, which serves as a memorial to service members who have paid the ultimate sacrifice and remain unknown.

NBE teachers and staff visit students in their neighborhoods
On Tuesday, August 16, NBE staff will give out school supplies, school magnets with contact information, and popsicles to beat the heat. The neighborhood home visits will be from noon-4 p.m. with the last stop at the North Belt Elementary playground.

For the second year in a row, AHS Animation Federation has been an Official Selection for the All American High School Film Festival!
The film will be screened in October in New York City’s Times Square. My students competed against 1,850 submissions from 48 states and 40+ countries. And will now be advancing to the finals with a chance to win a share of over $300,000 in scholarships and prizes!
