Deerwood Elementary School
Construction
The contract to clear the land was awarded to Ike Jackson & Sons in March 1984.
The contract to build the school was awarded to R. M. Mayfield Constructors in July 1984.
In December 1984, a School Board Committee (of Goldstein, Fields and Moore) recommended that the new elementary school in Kingwood be called Deerwood Elementary School. In January 1985, the School Board voted to named the new school as Deerwood Elementary School.
The School Board took a walk-through of the new campus, and accepted it as substantially complete on August 22, 1985.
