Construction
The School Board gave approval to purchase the site of 11.575 acres in Atascocita-Pinehurst from the Gibralter Savings Associationin February 1984.
The contract to clear the land was awarded to Ike Jackson & Sons in March 1984.
The contract to build the school was awarded to R. M. Mayfield Constructors in July 1984.
In December 1984, a School Board Committee (of Goldstein, Fields and Moore) recommended that the new elementary school in Atascocita be called Lake Houston Elementary School. Howveerm by January 1985, the School Board voted to named the new school as Pine Forest Elementary School.

The School Board took a walk-through of the new campus, and accepted it as substantially complete on August 22, 1985.
The size of the school is 76,942 square feet. The total site acreage is 12.49 acres.
