    Meet Mrs. Dye....

As Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz so eloquently said..."There's no place like home!".  I am a Native Texan and proud of it!  In fact, I have lived in the Houston area most of my life.  I grew up in the city of Deer Park, about 30 minutes south of Humble. After graduating, I attended and graduated from the University of Houston.  GO COOGS!

Like a lot of college kids, I worked and went to school.  I worked in the insurance industry during college until I graduated, got married and started my family with my husband and college sweetheart, Eurie.  In fact, we both grew up in Deer Park, went to the same school, but never met until college. After Andrew was born, I was a stay at home mom and began to raise my son and daughter Megan.  During this time, I had time to reflect on my future career.  After much thought and prayer, I decided to return to school to become a teacher.

After receiving my teaching certificate from the University of Houston Clear Lake, I took my first teaching job at my old Alma mater.  Talk about a surreal experience!  It was strange to re-enter those same halls that I used to stroll as a student, but now I saw the school from another perspective.

By this time, my oldest son was about the enter Kindergarten, and we decided to move to the Humble area.  I was teaching, and also expecting my youngest son Alex.

Currently, my oldest son Andrew is a sophomore in college. Megan is freshman in college, and Alex is in 9th grade at AHS.

I love to spend time with family and friends.  My interests include reading, cooking, Stars Wars/Sci-Fi, and anything to do with fitness/nutrition.  I have completed 3 triathlons and  a half marathon. I'm currently into Cross Fit and total body fitness.

I have earned my National Board Certification in Early to Middle Childhood in Literacy or NBCT.  This means I have demonstrated mastery in this content area according to national standards.  In Texas, there are approximately 2,000 NBCTs. Learn about National Board Certification here

I also hold my master's degree in Educational Leadership through the University of Texas at Arlington.

Throughout my educational journey, I have been a classroom teacher, dyslexia specialist, GT/ESL coordinator, and now an assistant principal.
I am so incredibly blessed to be where I am today! I love my job!  I love my school!   Groves Elementary Rocks!!!!
