Welcome to 1st grade!

My name is Laurie Rohmann, and I am going on my 20th year of teaching!  I graduated from Baylor University in 2001- Sic em' Bears!  I knew I wanted to be a teacher since I was 7 years old- teaching is truly my passion.  I have worked in Humble ISD for 14 years and Washington Township, New Jersey, for 5 years.  Each of these years has been different in my classroom.  I am constantly learning and growing so that I can offer the best practices necessary to ensure my students' success.

I love surrounding myself with family and friends. I have two children, Lilly (8) and Johnny (5).  Lilly will be a 3rd grader and Johnny is brand new to Greentree!  He is starting kindergarten! We love getting to be Gators together!  My children keep me very busy and I LOVE IT!

I am very excited to meet my new 1st grade students and their families- we are going to have an awesome year together!

My Teaching Philosophy:  All children are learners.  It is my job to help cultivate their learning by providing a safe, nurturing environment for them to grow academically and emotionally.  My classroom is student-centered.  This means the student comes first, always!  I believe it’s essential for students to create their own “A-ha” moments through hands-on, relevant lessons. It is so rewarding to watch second graders expand their knowledge and apply it in different situations and across the content areas.
