    Great 8 Skills

    First 9 Weeks: Optimism

During the first quarter of the school year all students will receive lessons about developing an Optimistic Mindset!  Research shows that people who are capable of viewing life experiences as "opportunities" will prove to be happier, healthier, and more successful adults in later life.  Learning and practicing a Growth Mindset, rather than a Fixed Mindset can open your child up to developing confidence, passion, and courage as they grow into their dreams.

    Second 9 Weeks: Self-Management Skills

Students will be involved in classroom lessons that teach and develop Self-Management skills.  One of the most challenging pieces in life can be understanding and managing our emotions.  Emotions are instinctual to every person and serve to protect and enrich our lives!  During the second quarter of the school year students will practice how to identify and handle their anger, sadness, fear, loneliness, etc. across a wide range of experiences.  Successful adults know how to manage negative feedback from an employer or move through the feelings of sadness after a loss, therefore those skills must be practiced at a young age.  Facing the hurdles in life can be scary, but at the heart of every challenge there must be a strong person who will know how to get back up.
