  • Loss of Maria L.Mejorada

    Maria Mejorada We are saddened to inform you of the April 9 loss of Maria Mejorada, Bus Aide in our Transportation Department. Maria supported education in Humble ISD since 2008. She has served as Secretary at the Cambridge School, Teachers Aide at Creekwood Middle School, and as a Bus Aide in Transportation. Memorial services will be at 6 p.m. on April 16 at Rosewood Funeral Home-Atascocita, located at 17404 West Lake Houston Parkway, Humble TX 77346.   • Loss of former Principal Charlotte Coffelt

    Charlotte Coffelt.jpg We are saddened to inform you of the Feb. 16 loss of former Humble ISD Principal Charlotte Coffelt. Charlotte came to Humble Elementary as a teacher in 1979. She became Assistant Principal of Timbers Elementary in 1981, and became Principal of Timbers in 1985. She was Principal of Whispering Pines Elementary from 1991 until she retired in 1994.

    Charlotte's remains will join her mother, father, and two of her sisters in the Eddy New Home Cemetery in Grant County, Oklahoma, a location very close to where her paternal grandfather's 160-acre farm was settled in 1893. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.

  • Loss of Tammy Broussard

    We are saddened to announce the Jan. 26 loss of Tammy Broussard, former Registrar of Riverwood Middle School.

    Tammy began her 15-year-service in Humble ISD at Timbers Elementary as a paraprofessional in 1996. She became a Campus Support Team Assistant (CSTA) at TE in 2005. She moved to Riverwood Middle School in 2006, became RMS Registrar in 2008 and served there through 2011.

    A memorial service will be held at Rosewood Funeral Home, located at 2602 South Houston Avenue in Humble, on Tuesday Feb. 2. Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. with the memorial starting at 12 p.m.

  • Loss of Judy Pence

    Judy Kellum Pence2 We are saddened to announce the unexpected loss of retired long-time employee Judy Kellum-Pence.

    Judy came to Humble ISD as a teacher at Oaks Elementary in 1985-1996. She taught at Deerwood Elementary from 1997-1998 and at Riverwood Middle from 1998-2002. She served as an Assistant Principal at Humble High School 9th Grade Campus from 2002-2006, Humble High School from 2006-2011, and Riverwood Middle School from 2011-2013. She retired in December of 2013. In recent years, she has been serving as a guest teacher in Humble ISD.

    A celebration of life will be held Saturday, December 5th at New Covenant Church, located at 901 Wilson Road in Humble. Viewing will be from 10-11 a.m. and memorial services will begin at 11 a.m.

    Judy will be interred at Forest Lawn Cemetery, located at 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont, TX, 77703.

  • Loss of Maxine Smetherman

    Max Smetherman 2020.jpg We are saddened to inform you of the unexpected Oct. 28 loss of Maxine "Max" Smetherman, a long-time educator in Special Education.

    Max came to Humble ISD in 2002 as a SPED aide at Woodland Hills Elementary. She later became a SPED Teacher at the Community Learning Center, a Facilitator in the SPED Department, and a Coordinator of the SPED Department. Max retired in December of 2018 and returned as a Guest Teacher in 2019.

    A mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 20, 2020 at St. Martha’s Catholic Church. Graveside services will be held at 10:4 5 a.m., Monday, November 23, 2020 at Houston National Cemetery.

  • Loss of Dan Pearce

    We are saddened to announce the October 13 loss of Dan Pearce, former Riverwood Middle School Science Teacher. Dan came to Humble ISD in 2003, and taught at RMS until he retired in 2015. He was a substitute in the district from 2015 until February 2020.

    A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 24, at 10 a.m. at the Kingwood United Methodist Church, located at 1799 Woodland Hills Dr, Kingwood, TX 77339.

  • Loss of Don Uptegraph

    Don Uptegraph We are saddened to inform you of the October 15 loss of Don Uptegraph, former Director of Maintenance and Operations, following a 10-year battle with cancer.

    Don came to Humble ISD from Fort Bend ISD in 1992. He retired in 2005 with 37 years in school business. Don played football at TCU and began his career in San Benito, Texas, as a coach and biology teacher.

  • Loss of Dr. Robin Perez

    Dr. Robin Perez We are sad to announce the August 11 loss of Dr. Robin Perez, former Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction for Humble ISD from July 2013 until April of 2016.

    Dr. Perez held a Bachelor’s Degree, two Master’s Degrees, and a Doctoral Degree from Lamar University. Dr. Perez started her career in Beaumont ISD and has worked as an administrator in Lumberton ISD, Assistant Superintendent for Humble ISD, Superintendent of Buna ISD, and Superintendent of Nederland ISD. During her career she has served as a teacher in special education and mainstream education, high school assistant principal, middle school principal, assistant superintendent and superintendent. Dr. Perez served on the Advisory Council of the College of Education and Human Development – Lamar University, and also served as an adjunct professor, training principals and superintendents for the last 10 years.

    Dr. Perez resigned as Superintendent of Nederland at the end of June, 2020. She had been on medical leave while undergoing treatment for cancer.

    Nederland ISD Board President Mr. Micah Mosley said, “We are extremely saddened to learn of Robin’s passing. We were fortunate to have her serve our District and I know those where she served before Nederland would say the same. She was a visionary that was dedicated to adapting to each individual student’s needs all while keeping true to the traditions of Nederland ISD. We look forward to building upon the foundation she leaves behind to continue striving towards excellence. Our sincerest thoughts and prayers will remain with her husband, children, grandson and extended family.”

  • Sympathy to Sara Middleton

    Sympathy to Sara Middleton, West Lake Middle School Teacher, and to the Humble ISD Police family on the May 11 loss of retired Humble ISD Police Officer Wallace Middleton due to health issues. Funeral services are pending. Wallace came to Humble ISD in 1998 and retired in July 2011. Their two children, Lillian and Gabriel, are students at WLMS.
