• Small Group and Individual Counseling
     
    The goal of small group and individual counseling is to provide students with the opportunity to learn more about and use The Great 8 Skills for Daily Life.  The skills have been taught by the counselor in the classroom setting.  The Great 8 Skills for Daily Life include:  

    Great 8
    DECISION MAKING
     
    Increase problem solving and accepting responsibility for decisions.

    GOAL DIRECTED BEHAVIOR
    The skills to initiate and complete tasks 

    OPTIMISTIC THINKING
    Building confidence, hopefulness and positive thinking

    SELF MANAGEMENT SKILLS
    Controlling one's emotions and behaviors in pursuit of a goal or in a new situation

    RELATIONSHIP SKILLS
     Acceptable actions that promotes and maintain positive connections

    PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY
     A person’s tendency to be careful and reliable in his/her actions and to contribute to group efforts.

    SELF-AWARENESS
    A person’s realistic understanding of his/her strengths and limitations, and consistent desire for self-improvement.

    SOCIAL AWARENESS
    A person’s capacity to interact with others in ways that show respect, tolerance, and cooperation.

    Small group counseling groups are composed of 5-6 students and will meet during lunch once a week for 5-6 weeks.  Parent permission must be given for students to participate in small groups.  If you would like for your child to participate please fill out the referral form below and the parent permission form can either be sent home or printed off from the counselor website and given to the teacher.

    Small groups will follow three group norms:
       1.  What happens in group, stays in group
       2.  Be respectful of all group members
       3.  Always try your best and PARTICIPATE!!!
