    It is important to get the flu shot yearly as each new year brings a new string of the virus. The vaccine lasts for up to a year, but recipients should allow 2 weeks for either vaccine to fully protect against the flu virus. The vaccine is administered in most physician offices, and below is a list of clinics offering the flu shot at affordable (some free) prices.


    The Houston Department of Health and Human Services offers flu vaccine at health centers for children and adults.

    Flu vaccine is free of charge to seniors who receive Medicare and/or children who are VFC eligible.

    Harris County Public Health and Environmental Services is also offering flu shots. The vaccine will be provided on a first-come first-served basis. Please contact office for the cost for the adult flu vaccine. Vaccine is available for children ages 6 months and older who may be eligible for the Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program.
