• Photo Gallery - Dwarf Planet Pluto

    Pluto is one of five known dwarf planets in our solar system.  As of the start of 2015 they are:  Ceres (formerly asteroid #1), Pluto (formerly planet #9), Makemake, Haumea, and Eris.  There may be hundreds more out beyond Neptune's orbit.  Pluto spends most of its orbit outside the orbit of Neptune, but because of the eccentricity of its elliptical orbit it dome spend some of the time inside of Neptune's orbit. 

    These pictures were taken by volunteer astronomers at the Insperity Observatory in Humble ISD.
