I started teaching in 1990 in the North East Independent School District of San Antonio, Texas. I taught 1st grade for eleven years and then moved up to 2nd grade for two years. During this time I looped with my students and enjoyed this transition. Having my students for two years in a row gave me an advantage and the opportunity to know my students and their families even better. Teaching young children "how" to read has always been one of my passions.
In 2003, my husband's job brought us to the Houston area. We fell in love with Kingwood and have been here ever since. I started working at Greentree as a tutor for the TAKS test and the following year was asked to join the 3rd grade team. After several years in third grade, I began working as the school's interventionist and then the Reading Academic Lead teacher. This year I am returning as an interventionist and I will be working with students who have dyslexia.
I am proud to be part of Greentree Elementary and the Humble Independent School District. Both of my children went to school at Greentree and graduated from this district! I have one daughter that graduated from the University of Texas in Austin and lives in Mexico as a freelance journalist. My younger daughter is a sophomore at Texas State in San Marcos. I believe that Greentree has high standards for students, builds lasting relationships, keeps all children safe, and instills a love for learning!
