• Referral to Special Education for Full and Individual Evaluation (FIE) is made when a student demonstrates significant educational concern with a suspected disability condition, generally after implementation of Response to Intervention. Following consent for FIE that involves concern and suspected disability only in the area of Speech-Language Impairment, the campus speech-language pathologist administers formal assessment once consent has been obtained.  All other required areas, as well as the area of concern, are addressed informally through parent and teacher information, observations, school records, and any additional information provided. (When concern and suspected disability other than Speech-Language Impairment are involved, the educational diagnostician typically coordinates assessment personal needed.)
