• Guidance Curriculum

The Guidance Curriculum in Humble ISD provides all students with the knowledge and skills appropriate for their developmental level through systematic delivery of the guidance curriculum in classroom counselor-led guidance lessons, facilitated daily through Den Time by the campus counselors, and small groups.

In order to promote and enhance the learning program and in accordance with Texas and national standards, the guidance curriculum addresses the areas of personal/social, academic, and career development.

Humble ISD counselors teach The Great 8: Skills for Daily Life as our guidance curriculum. From the information and knowledge acquired through the awareness phase, students develop the skills to identify the responsibilities and behaviors appropriate to functioning effectively in each of the environments. Each year we focus on four of our Great 8 Skills for life:

    Great 8 Skills  22-23

    1. Decision Making

    2. Personal Responsibility

    3. Self-Awareness

    4. Social Awareness

      Great 8 Skills  23-24

      1. Optimistic Thinking

      2. Self-Management

      3. Relationship Skills

      4. Goal-Directed Behavior
