Commemoration at 2 p.m. Aug. 28
Humble ISD will join in a bell-ringing ceremony to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech. Houston Mayor Annise D. Parker requested that schools ring a bell for 15 seconds on August 28 at 2 p.m. This coincides with the time that Dr. King delivered his historic address in 1963. Students heard the bell from their classrooms. Bell-ringing was done in schools, churches, and other organization throughout the United States and around the world to mark the date.
