• No Place for Hate & Anti-Bias Activities

Humble ISD schools participate in anti-bullying and anti-bias activities, promoting a culture and climate of respect that has no place for hate! Our schools establish a coalition of students and staff in order to plan and implement school-wide activities throughout the year that are designed to support social & emotional wellness. This focus helps to stand up against bigotry and hate by promoting respect for diversity and global citizenship. Some of our No Place for Hate/Anti-Bias activities have included:

Mix it up and create new relationships

Mix It Up at Lunch Day is an international campaign that encourages students to identify, question and cross social boundaries.  We ask students to move out of their comfort zones and connect with someone new over lunch. It’s a simple act with profound implications that we encourage year-round to promote healthy, welcoming school environments. Studies have shown that interactions across group lines can help reduce prejudice. When students interact with those who are different from them, biases and misperceptions can fall away.

    Peace Garden

Peace Gardens are a great way to bring students together. The peace garden can be a symbol of hope for the future and a school's commitment to peace - peace within themselves and their school community, peace within the global family and peace with nature. They offer a space of quiet where people can go when in distress or to offer reconciliation to one another, during conflict resolution and mediation processes.

    Celebrate Your Heritage

It is important to celebrate our heritage because it is a time to share our cultures and for all of us to learn about our own culture and heritage and that of others.

    Fill Others Buckets Activities

The concept of bucket filler activities is simple.  Being kind to others, fill their buckets and your own.  Bucket filler activities encourage students to be kind in a variety of ways.
