    Lakeland Elementary Volunteers Rock!!

    The Lakeland PTA supports our school's staff and administration by working hard to help them achieve their goals.  It takes volunteers like you to make these wonderful programs happen, so take a look at the PTA event descriptions below and see where you might fit it!  You will love volunteering, your child will love seeing you, and the PTA will give you tons of kudos and thanks!  We really appreciate our PTA volunteers and want to thank you in advance for your support!   

     

    Listed below are brief descriptions of activities sponsored by the PTA.  Hopefully this will help you understand the different opportunities that are available at Lakeland Elementary.  You may print the form at the bottom of the page to register as a volunteer.  Just fill out the form and send it in to your child's teacher - they will forward it to the PTA and we will contact you about the opportunities you are interested in!  Here are the current list of opportunities:
      

    BOOK FAIR - Assists during Book Fair Week in the fall and spring. 

     

    EVERYBODY COUNTS – A program that is designed to teach children about different disabilities and accepting people with disabilities.

     

    HELPING HANDS - Helping hands are placed in home windows to identify homes where a child may receive assistance when a problem may occur traveling to or from school.  We replace the signs with a new color each year.

     

    HOMEROOM PARENT- This is a fun and creative job!  We welcome Dads too!  We need homeroom parents for each classroom to coordinate parties, special events, and to notify other parents regarding classroom needs. This job can also be done by several parents who can work together.

     

    LIBRARY AIDE - Works with the librarian in checking and shelving books, repairing books, monitoring Accelerated Reader testing, and other related activities.

     

    NURSE'S AIDE - Works with the school nurse in health screening of students.  One or two people will be needed on a regular basis to help with filing, and updating records.

     

    REFRESHMENTS - Want to try out a good recipe?   Or do you have a good recipe?  Need people to donate food (casseroles, salads, cakes, cookies, pies, etc.) at adult special events such as parent education. 

     

    STORYBOOK READER – Read to children once a week for about 30 minutes.  Librarian will select the books that will be read.  Our children enjoy this time.

     

    TEACHERS' AIDE -   Assist teachers in preparing materials, cutting papers, coloring, preparing bulletin boards, photocopying, etc.  Work on any items needed by your teacher or another. Some of the projects can be done at home.

     

    SUPER KIDS DAY- We need volunteers to assist the P.E. department in running the field day events. Morning and afternoon shifts are available.

     

    SPRING FESTIVAL- We need  volunteers to help run the booths and carnival games. Various shifts are available throughout the evening, to allow each person to enjoy family time at the festival.

     

    SANTA'S WORKSHOP-   Parents are needed to assist in operating the workshop.

     

    SPRING FUNDRAISER-   Volunteers are needed the day of delivery to sort and distribute items to students.
