I grew up in Missouri City, Texas, a suburb of Houston and began studying music at an early age. I have played piano for over forty years and am also a vocalist. I studied Music Education at Houston Baptist University and graduated from the University of Houston-Downtown with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Urban Education. I am certified in Early Childhood through 6th grade, Music: Kindergarten through 12th grade, English as a Second Language (ESL) and Administration (All Level).
I have a Masters in Curriculum & Instruction with an emphasis in Multicultural Education from Texas A&M University as well as a Masters in Educational Administration from University of North Texas. Currently, I am attending Texas Tech University working towards my PhD in Curriculum & Instruction specializing in Language, Diversity and Literacy.
I am also an avid lover of musical theater and, over the years, have performed in many regional musical productions. I am a member of the Texas Music Educator’s Association (TMEA) and the National Association for Music Education (NAfME). In my spare time, I love to travel and spend time with friends and family.
