I think that it is important for children to be immersed in an environment of exploration, stimulation and discovery. This, combined with care, love, nurturing, understanding, and patience will help my students to become eager and successful learners. I think French mathematician Blasé Pascal summed it up best when he said,
“We are usually convinced more easily by reason we have found ourselves than by reasons that have occurred to others.”
With these principles in mind, I believe the third component in helping a child achieve success is the partnership established between teachers and parents. Your child will continue to have more responsibilities as they move into fourth grade, and they will need OUR help to develop positive routines that encourage achievement.
My husband, Scott, and I have four children: 2 boys & 2 girls. We also have a beagle, Ellie Mae, who is a treasured member of our family. Our youngest son Luke, a KPHS grad, is at LSU Ogden Honor's College working to complete dual majors in psychology and biology. Our oldest son, Timothy, graduated from Kingwood High School and went to SFA. As a lifelong Razorback fan, I never imagined we would have so much purple in our house! Our daughters, Caroline and Abby, are former WCE Cardinals and now are in 8th and 7th grade at CMS. They keep me very busy with their CMS cheerleading activities, NCL, and Girl Scouts. We love attending sporting events, catching a good movie, and riding our bikes along the greenbelts.
I am very happy to be a part of the faculty, students, and parents at WCE, and am looking forward to a wonderful year.
