    Course Description:
    This course addresses foundation concepts for high school mathematics including algebraic thinking and symbolic reasoning, function concepts, and relationships between equations and functions. It also incorporates underlying mathematical processes including a computation and problem-solving, communication and representation of mathematical concepts, and applications and connections to other disciplines. This course will address a variety of algebraic concepts through the use of manipulatives and technology, such as computer and graphing calculators, in order to help students gain a more meaningful understanding of these concepts. It is expected that students will be able to read and understand the textbook, work independently as well as in small groups, and be able to form inquiries and conclusions through the completion of classroom activities.

     

    Aside from the content, the focus of the course is to foster in the students a sense of responsibility for their own learning.
