Reading Language Arts Academic Lead Teacher
" Education is not the learning of facts but the training of the mind to think"
Hello Timbers Family!
My name is Chasity Stoneham and I am elated to be joining the Timbers staff for the 2020-2021 school year! This will be my 12th year in education and my 8th year in Humble ISD. I am a graduate of the University of Houston Main Campus where I obtained a Bachelors of Science in Interdisciplary Studies for Early Childhood Education. I later received my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington. For the past 7 years I have spent my time teaching 4th and 5th grade language arts and social studies at Summerwood Elementary. Prior to coming to Humble I taught in Spring ISD at Clark Primary and Bammell Elementary in which I taught kindergarten, first and third grades.
When I am not teaching or learning you will find me with my two boys and my husband. I am a proud HFD Fire wife. My husband is also a veteran with the United States Army. We have two boys 8 and 10 years old, and they are definitely the engine that keeps our house running with excitement. I am originally from Fort Worth so I am a die hard Cowboys fan so I can go a little crazy during football season!
I have always had a love for teaching literacy and this year I am excited to share this love with the teachers and students of Timbers! I believe that literacy is the foundational skill that opens the door to all other learning but when done right it can be the reason that a child fall in loves with reading! This year I look forward to supporting, learning and growing with the Timbers staff! I am estatic about building new relationships and being the support that our teachers and students need to aid in propeling Timbers to the next level!
