Greetings and salutations! My name is Mrs. Squyres, and this is my fabulous family!  I was born and raised in Southern California where I graduated from U.S.C with a Business Administration degree in 1989.  However, that path really wasn't where my heart was at, or working for our newly forming family, so in 1995 I went back to school and became an Early Childhood Education teacher. There I became the Program Director of a privately owned arts-based pre-school in Central California, where my educational adventure began!
When our oldest son Brian started kindergarten in 1998, so did I...as his teacher!  I earned my first Teaching Credential from California in 1997, and eagarly moved into the realm of public education.  I taught for seven faboulous years at William McKinley Elementary school in Colton.  In 2005 we decided to move our family to my husband's familial roots in Central Louisiana. I thus obtained my second Teaching Credential from our new home state, and happlily continued teaching in public education. I was was lucky enough to have our two youngest children, Isaac and Amanda,  on my campus, and was able to observe my own  "wild things" in their natural environment!  Six fun-filled years later we moved to Texas, I got my third Credential, and (once again!) we started a new chapter in our lives.
I began working for Humble ISD in 2012 as a Kindergarten teacher at Greentree Elementary.  However, my class was collapsed after the first six weeks of school due to decreased enrollment.  I was immediatly moved to Fall Creek Elementary as a second grade teacher to take over a class that had lost it's teacher due to health reasons. I remained there for two additional years in third grade, one self contained and one dpartmentalized.
I came to Woodland Hills Elementary in 2015 in a part-time position as a Math Specialist/Interventionist while I worked on my Master's of Education degree.  The job was so rewarding, and I was blessed to be able to serve in that capacity for three wonderful years. Last year I came back into the classroom as a full time fifth grade Science, Social Studies, and Writing teacher. While I loved my big boys and girls...I truly missed my little ones. I'm so pleased to find myself back in the Kinder world, and so excited for all the wonderful learning experiances we'll share together!
In the past 20+ years I have had the privilege of teaching students ranging in age from 2 to 12 years old, in self-contained multiple-subject classrooms, as well as subject specific departmentalized situations.  I am quite proud to say that I have been a teacher in every elementary grade level...in fact, I was even a librarian!  In California we wern't fortuate enough to have "specials" teachers, so I was also the grade level coordinator for art and P.E. as well the campus music and performing arts director. I am so very happy to call WHE my home, and I truly look forward to bulding lasting relationships and sharing many rewarding experiences with your family this year.
