Get to Know Mrs. Boyd!
I'm so happy to be supporting FCE students in reading. Here's just a little bit about myself...
I was born and raised in the western suburbs of Chicago, which means, of course, I'm a die-hard Cubs fan! My mother, a nurse, and my father, a retired high school bilingual educator, both live in Houston. Several years ago, my brother and his family moved to the Kingwood area, and its been fun to have my family all together once again.
I studied English Language Arts and Elementary Education at Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. After Cornerstone, I moved to Texas and have been teaching in the Humble area for the last 14 years. I have taught in Aldine ISD for a year, and then moved to Humble ISD. I have taught second grade for ten years. My first year in third grade, I was self-contained, and for the last three years, I have been teaching reading, language arts, and social studies also in third grade.
I've been married to my husband, John, for four years, and our daughter, Emmeline, will be two in September. We enjoy going on adventures as a family, like going to Astros games, traveling to the beach, and playing with our dog, Moo.
I look forward to working with you and your child this year as we go on amazing adventures in reading. My hope for your student this year is that they gain confidence in themselves, learn to be empathic and kind towards others, while taking risks as learners and trying new things. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, concerns or insights you may have about your child throughout the year.
