Introducing... Mrs. McGuffey
My name is Margie McGuffey. I grew up and spent most of my life in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, a western suburb of Chicago. I have lived in Kingwood since moving to Texas in 2000. I love to garden and read, and I am a passionate conservationist. I have been married 29 years and live with my husband, 1 of my 3 children and our yellow Lab. My oldest child, Nora, graduated from both Texas A&M and Texas A&M Law School. She is currently working in Tallahassee, FL with a federal bankruptcy judge. My son, Alex, just married his high school sweetheart in August. He is in his last year at Univ. of Houston studying mechanical engineering in the honor's college. He graduates in May and will be commissioned into the US Army at that time. My youngest, Amy, is a senior at KPHS. I have been a Girl Scout leader for 19 years, and I volunteered much time helping my son's Boy Scout troop. I love the Scouts!
I received a BS degree in Elementary Education from Western Illinois University and an MS degree from Northern Illinois University. My first 20 years of teaching were spent in the Naperville CUSD 203 in Illinois where I taught self contained 3rd, 4th and 5th grades. After staying home with my children for the first 10 years I lived in Kingwood, I embarked on a "second life" in teaching. This is my eleventh year in Humble ISD and my very first time teaching 2nd grade. I am very grateful to be teaching here at Woodland Hills Elementary!
