Why AVID binders? One learner behavior evident in academically successful students is organization.Watch Mr. Robertson, AVID Teacher & Coordinator, model the set-up of your AVID binder. All students are required to have AVID binders. Each child's 4th period teacher will be teaching and monitoring successful implementation and use of the AVID binder. Students will be assessed during 4th period every Thursday during extra 20 minutes of the period. The rubric linked above is how the AVID binder will be assessed during the 1st grading period. Essentially we are assessing whether a child has all the supplies/materials. If you are wondering, "How is my child doing on their AVID binder?", the first grade for each 4th period teacher will be a formative assessment titled AVID Binder.Cornell Notes:
Why Cornell Notes? Another learner behavior that is evident in academically successful student is the ability to take notes and then effectively study from them. This skill must be taught effectively. Cornell Notes is a "best practice" that leads students to effectively learn from their note-taking.
