Welcome! My name is Helen Reed, and this is my 11th year at GTE!
I am a 2009 graduate of Sam Houston State University with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies specializing in early childhood education and was fortunate enough to complete my classroom hours as a student teacher right here at Greentree Elementary. This will be my eleventh year teaching at Greentree. I taught kindergarten for five years, first grade for five years and this year I will start my eleventh year teaching second grade. I feel so blessed to be able to teach at Greentree Elementary where every teacher is here because of their passion for children and teaching!
I feel it is so important for me to REALLY know your child in order to help them reach their goals and potential. I believe it takes a partnership between the parents and the teacher! Communication is the KEY to success. I want this to be a comfortable environment for you and your child and I want them to leave my classroom with the LOVE OF LEARNING AND THE LOVE OF SCHOOL!! As our district mission statement, we are in a partnership with families and community, to develop each child intellectually, artistically, emotionally, physically, and socially so that all students are life long learners, complex thinkers, responsible global citizens and effective communicators. I TRULY BELIEVE THIS STATEMENT AND WILL MAKE THIS VISION POSSIBLE!
Now, to my whole world... I have an Amazing husband, Rodney Reed, and two beautiful children. My daughter Aubree is five and starting Kindergarten this year at GTE. EEK, I'm so excited!! I also have a 3 month old baby Boy, Reece Reed. They make living in this crazy world, so worth it! I am sure their will be lots of stories about Aubree and Reece throughout the year. I look forward to learning all about your families!
