• About Mrs. Ortiz: I am a Certified Journalism Educator through JEA and 2014 JEA Rising Star Award Winner. I worked at the Houston Chronicle, covering the NFL, NBA and college football and baseball. I also worked for the Des Moines Register, Dallas Morning News, New York Newsday and San Antonio Express-News.  I was a regular guest on ESPN's Cold Pizza and freelanced for Sports Illustrated and The Sporting News. This is my 13th year teaching. I have taught at Summer Creek HS, Nahed Chapman New American Academy (St. Louis, MO) and Barnwell Middle School (St. Charles, MO). This is my seventh year at Kingwood Park.
