Meet the Directors

  • Mrs. Brandy Barfield Rood

    Mrs "B." as she is called, is a native Texan that grew up in the Houston area. She holds a BA in Theatre, a BA in Spanish, and graduated from the University of Houston with an MFA in Theatre.  Mrs. B has appeared on Houston stages for over 20 years in a wide range of roles.  Most recently she appeared as Circe and Electra in Traffic in Women at St. Thomas University.  She has performed in Houston Young Playwrights Exchange, for the Edward Albee Workshops and Dada Productions.  Some of her favorite roles include Ophelia in Hamlet, Chrissie in Dancing at Lughnasa, Babe in Crimes of the Heart, Julie in Jake's Women, Maya in Like Fish Swimming Through Rock, and Laura in The Golem.

    She is the lead director here at HHS and teaches all the Drama classes as well. She also acts as Artistic Director for the annual 24 Hour Theatre Project. This is Mrs. B's 15th year with us and in that time has compiled an impressive array of directing credits including The Elephant Man, Romeo and Juliet, The Lion in Winter, Gint, Antigone, Proof, Of Mice and Men, Dancing at Lughnasa, Women of Troy, Crimes of the Heart, The Heidi Chronicles, Little Women, The Little Princess, The Crucible, A Midsummer Night's Dream and The Children's Hour to name a few. Not only does Mrs.B work on stage but she is has done plenty backstage as well. Makeup Design credits include Samson and Delilah for the Houston Grand Opera, Into the Woods and Little Shop of Horrors  for Humble High School, and Our Country's Good and The Christmas Revels for the University of Houston.  She is also one half of the partnership that makes up In The Wings Productions, which is a professional theatre company committed to doing works by and about women from all walks of life.

    Mr. JT Hearn

    Technical Director of HHS Theatre
    Technical Theatre 1-4

    Mr. Hearn is a native Texan from Emory, Texas. He holds a BA in Theatre & Film and graduated from Stephen F Austin University in 2012. Mr. Hearn has worked with SRO Production Company and TheatreLAB Houston at Obsidian and The Match, respectively. His favorite appearances on stage include American Idiot, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Big River, and Joseph and the Amazing Tecnicolor Dreamcoat.

    He is the lead technical director here at HHS and teaches all the Technical classes as well.

    Since his arrival in the Fall Semester of 2016 he has compiled a multitude of directing and technical credits including A Midsummer Night's Dream, Blood Relations, Our Country's Good, Over the River and Through the Woods, and many more.
