Meet Mrs. Macaulay
I was born in Texas and spent most of my childhood right here in Kingwood! When I was a kid, I liked to play softball and volleyball, ride my bike, run around outside, read, write, and draw. I also loved playing school and "helping" my mom with her students. (She was a pre-school/kindergarten teacher for several years.) I have always enjoyed learning new things. After graduating from Kingwood High School in 2002, I attended The University of Texas at Austin (Hook 'em, Horns!). Though I graduated with a business degree in December 2005, I knew that my true passion was teaching. I earned my Alternative Certification shortly thereafter. I was so excited to begin my teaching career at Deerwood because it was my childhood elementary school!
This will be my seventeenth year in the classroom. I taught second grade for 3 years, third grade for 2 years, and fourth grade RELA for 7 years before finally making my way back to second grade 4 years ago! I was honored to be named Deerwood's Teacher of the Year in 2011-2012. Deerwood is a very special place for me, and I'm happy to say that I truly love my job!
When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family. My husband, Marcel, and I have a daughter, Sarah, and a son, Michael. Life is always interesting with two kids running around, but they are so much fun! Some of our favorite activities are visiting the zoo, reading books, playing at the park, and going to the pool.
I hope you enjoyed learning a little about me. I am looking forward to another great year at Deerwood!
