Hello, I am so excited to be a part of the Kingwood Park HS community. This is my first year here as the theatre director and I can't wait to meet everyone. When a teacher has been in a school for a while most students and teachers know who she is and at the very least a little about her, so they have a good idea of what to expect. I wanted to give you a little background information so that you may have a look into the theatre world in which your students are going to be involved.
Raised in Houston Texas by a family of educators, I attended SouthWest Texas State, now known as Texas State University. There I received a degree in Communication Studies and Theatre. I worked in Houston for a while, then moved near San Antonio but missed being near my family. Then I got an opportunity to work in Humble ISD and I jumped at the chance. I am very excited to be in a district which has a reputation for high learning and achieving.
I have been teaching in the district for 9 years now, all of which contributed to my love of theatre and teaching. I started out at Kingwood High School, where my passion for theatre grew everyday. From there I moved to Riverwood then Kingwood Middle and now I am super excited to call KPark my new home. I feel that theatre is not something that you can read about in a textbook but something you have to experience through a hands on approach. In my class we spend a lot of time doing, not just reading.
I also believe that communication is key between myself and the students and parents. If you need to get in touch with me, please do so. The best way is through email and I usually am pretty quick responding. Please don't hesistate to call me or schedule a conference if that works best for you.
I am very excited about this year and can't wait to see all the talented and creative students that will walk through my door.
