    Dear Maplebrook families. The flu virus has already reared its ugly head, showing up early this season. Please do what you can to prevent yourself from becoming ill and from spreading the virus to our other families if you do become ill.


    Your best defense:

    • Wash your hands often with soap & water

    • Fill up on veggies & fruit

    • Sleep (children in elementary school need 9-12 hours of sleep regularly!)

    • Immune boosting supplements: Vitamin D, Vitamin C, Zinc, Vitamin B, Elderberry

    • Prioritize daily exercise

    • Stress less (try daily meditation, deep breathing practices, nature walks, prayer)

    • Make the most of your stress by tackling bigger stressors first


    Signs that you may have the Flu virus:


    • Fever/chills
    • Fatigue
    • Muscle/body aches
    • Cough
    • Runny nose
    • Headache



    If you are ill:


    Wash your hands often. Cover your cough. Sleep.

    Practice physical distancing. Avoid sugar and processed foods.

    Drink enough water so that your urine is clear.

    (It will be bright yellow if you take certain vitamins, but it should never be dark yellow).

    Use medication as recommended by your physician.

    School and Contagious Illnesses:


    • Report illness related absences to the attendance office at 281-261-2919.

    • Students must be free of significant symptoms and fever for 24 hours before returning to school. If a student needs medication to control symptoms, they should stay at home.

    • If a student is suspected to have a contagious illness, they are required to be sent home until determined to no longer be contagious.
