Ms. Colleen Ryan
Ms. Ryan is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, the birthplace of jazz music. Ms. Ryan has been singing in church choirs since she was quite young and continued that tradition when she found herself transplanted to The Woodlands, Texas. Singing in a choir throughout her formal education, Ms. Ryan returned to New Orleans to receive her bachelor’s in music education. During her time in New Orleans, Ms. Ryan continued to hone her vocal talents by singing in the Loyola University Chorus, Chorale, and Chamber Choir. This extended to the community, as she sang with NOVA Premier Chorale and the Voices of New Orleans Community Choir. She was also an assistant choir director of the Voices of New Orleans Choir. Since her time in New Orleans, Ms. Ryan has taught K-5 general music in both Denver, Colorado and Austin, Texas. Desiring to be closer to her family, Ms. Ryan moved back to Spring, TX and taught K-5 general music and choir at Klein. Choir has been Ms. Ryan’s passion and focus for a large amount of her career and life. She has a strong desire to continue to grow in her experiences and trade. Ms. Ryan is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association and the American Choral Directors Association. Her research on Adolescent Voice Change was accepted into the International Symposium on Music Education. She is excited about bringing her love and joy of music to Woodcreek Middle School and Humble ISD.
