I am excited to welcome you to a new school year with KPark Orchestra! My name is Evan Farmer, and it is my privilege to be your new director! This is my 14th year teaching, all in Humble ISD. I started at Riverwood in 2009, and then moved to Summer Creek as the assistant orchestra director for the last four years. I have two daughters; one is at Kingwood High School and the younger one is starting 1st grade at Greentree. My wife is also joining the KPark family as one of the new counselors this year! And the youngest member of our family, is our 5 year old puppy named, Ruby!
I attended the University of Houston and earned my undergraduate degree in Music Education on the double bass. While I was at UH, I was part of the University of Houston Symphony, The Spirit of Houston Marching Band, Cougar Brass and also had the opportunity to be a bass soloist with the University Of Houston Wind Ensemble and University Women's Chorus. I was also the captain of the UH Ultimate Frisbee team! In August of 2021, I graduated from Lamar University with my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership.
In my free time, I am a big sports fan. I love all the Houston teams (except for Rice University)! I play soccer in the Kingwood Adult League and on my church softball team. My wife and I also volunteer as the leaders of the youth worship band at KUMC. In the spring, I coach the 8th grade girls soccer team at Riverwood.
I would like to thank all of my mentors who have helped me along the way to get to KPark. I hope I make you proud! Without you, I don't know if I would be teaching.
