ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR:
Natashia Gómez completed her Master’s degree in Education from Harvard University (1994) and her Bachelor of Arts in Chicano Studies at the University of California, Berkeley (1992). Natashia relocated to Texas from San Mateo, California in September of 2021. Prior to teaching with Humble ISD, she taught Latinx Studies, Creative Writing, and Media Studies at Notre dame de Namur University in Belmont, California, where she served as an adjunct professor for fifteen years. She also served as a middle school English teacher for three years at Immaculate Heart of Mary School in Belmont, California. In addition to teaching, she has held several positions in both government and non-profit agencies throughout northern California. In 2009, the Women of Color in Action Network honored her as an outstanding mentor. The mother of a child with autism, she is an advocate for special needs children and their families. When she is not teaching, she enjoys Jazzercise, cooking, reading, the performing arts, and is a fan of independent & documentary films.
