The Kingwood HS Madrigals participated in the prestigious American Classic Madrigal and Chamber Choir Festival on Saturday April 10th. The festival is usually held in San Antonio, but due to the pandemic, choirs submitted recorded performances this year that were then adjudicated by a panel of judges. This contest draws the top ensembles from the top Texas choir programs each year and is viewed around the state (and by directors around the country) as one of the most competitive contests of its type. We placed 4th in 2018, received a "performance of distinction" award in 2019, and placed 2nd in 2020.
I am thrilled to announce we placed 1st this year! It's sort of on par with a State Championship and is a VERY big deal for these students who worked incredibly hard for this. Here's a quote from one of the judges who is the director of the Grammy winning Houston Chamber Choir: "This was a virtuosic performance that would do credit to any university choir and most professional ones, too."
Congratulations on a huge achievement!
