Built in 1960, Lakeland Elementary is our district's oldest school. The new Lakeland Elementary School will be located at 1101 Rustic Timbers Drive in Humble, next to Turner Stadium, which is approximately 2 miles from its current location. The school is being built on new land due to concerns about traffic and the small size of the current campus. Rebuilding and relocating the school is also less costly and faster.
The main entry will feature a multifunctional media space, designed to resemble a tree house, which sets the tone for the play-based learning concept and vision for the school. The new campus has incorporated Next Generation learning pods into the design and will feature a blend of airplane, arctic, dinosaur, marine, space, and zoo themes to create a unique learning experience. “It creates an opportunity for the children to interact with the campus in a way that’s similar to a children’s museum,” Dr. Fagen said. “This school will make children excited to be in their new learning space.”
Humble ISD celebrated the construction of the new Lakeland elementary school with a groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, October 23, 2020.
Classes will be held in the new Lakeland campus beginning in August 2021.
