    Good afternoon, Mustang Families:

We had such a great turnout for our annual Walk the Schedule event on Saturday! There is nothing better than seeing our hallways full of students and families excited about the start of a brand new school year. We look forward to a fantastic year!

We want to wish each of our students the very best start to their new year. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to your student’s House Office team. Their information can be found at the end of this email.

    1st Day of School

Student schedules are now viewable in HAC. Once in HAC, click on the “Schedule” link on the sidebar menu to view the student’s current schedule. Students will report directly to their 1st period class tomorrow, where they will receive a copy of their official schedule. The first bell rings at 7:15 am, and we will be following our 1st Week Bell Schedule this week.

*Students who have Late Arrival or an off-campus class 1st period are to report to the KHS Commons no later than 8:00 am to pick up their official schedule.

Students who have an off-campus class (such as a CTE course on another campus) will not leave campus on the first day. These students will report to their House Office during the period(s) they are scheduled to be off campus. See the CTE section below for more information.

We will follow our regular bell schedule with Mustang Hour beginning Monday, August 15.

    Student Drop Off/Pick Up

The natatorium doors and the main front entrance will be accessible for entrance from the student parking lot or circle drive upon arrival at school. After 7:30 am, all exterior doors will be locked and the only approved entry is through the main front entrance.

Parents may drop off students in the front circle drive (turn in from Kingwood Drive at main entrance) or the Natatorium entrance (turn in from Kingwood Drive at the light by the tennis courts) in the morning. In the afternoon, the circle drive (front entrance) is available for student pick-up, or students may be picked up from the student parking lot/Natatorium entrance.

The back staff parking lot off of Valley Manor is reserved for buses only in the mornings and afternoons. Parents are not permitted to park on Valley Manor or in this parking lot to drop off or pick up students at any time. This creates an unsafe traffic situation.

    Bus Transportation

General education bus routes are now available online for the 2022-2023 school year. Click here to view route information.  Special needs transportation information will be communicated directly to parents by their assigned drivers.  For special needs student contact or address changes, please contact your campus's diagnostician.

    Students with Off-Campus CTE Courses

Students will not leave KHS to attend off-campus CTE courses on the 1st day of school. They should report to their House Office during the period(s) they have an off-campus CTE class. Beginning the second day of school, students who are providing their own transportation should report to their off-campus classes as scheduled.

The CTE bus/shuttle service for students who need transportation from/to their home campus will begin Monday, August 15. These students should continue to report to their House Office during an off-campus period(s) for the entire first week of school.

Fall Safety Day - Campus Safety and Security

Student and staff safety is our top priority. Our Fall Safety Day is scheduled for Friday, August 12. Throughout Safety Day, staff and students will engage in campus safety drills, practice safety protocols, and participate in important safety discussions. As you prepare for the start of the year, please review our Campus Safety & Security Plan and discuss safety tips and reminders with your student.

    Annual Update Reminder

All parents received an email from Humble ISD during the week of July 18 with instructions for completing the required annual enrollment update process. If you have not yet completed the update, including uploading current proof of residency, please do so today. Please refer to the district website for more information.

    Requesting Textbooks

Student Textbooks-Good News!  Many of the textbooks have online access and our teachers will be providing students with this information in their courses.

Hard copy textbook requests will be completed electronically this year. Please check the KHS website to submit your requests via a QR code or click this usable link. Once we receive your request, we will be contacting you via email to set up a designated time to come and retrieve your textbook requests.  Please allow 24-48 hours from the time you request textbooks for the request to be filled.
